Ukraine may be turned to the nusclear dump for foreign countries


Coming out in the press conference at the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant, Victor Yushchenko told reporters he was ready to consider and accept the political resolution to build a depot for foreign nuclear waste in the Chornobyl zone. He added, however, that the issue should be first thoroughly studied by experts and scientists and publicly debated.

The President stressed that such beneficialprojects might be considered after a detailed analysis.

“This is a long-term issue,” he opined. “And it should first of all be approved by society.”

Yushchenko saidthat without public apporval he wouldnever make such decisions however profitablethey might seem
