Ukrainians want independent Ukraine


47% of Ukrainians stand for independent development of their country, Borys Salahakov the Director of All-Ukrainian Social Service told.

According to the recent poll, 25.5% citizens want Ukraine to create new union together with Russia and Belarus, 8.7% - for the former union with the majority of the ex-Soviet republics and 12.3% want to join the EU and NATO. The rest 6% give no answer.

The respondents were asked the question on the status of Russian language in Ukraine: 42.6% stand for the current situation, 20% of Ukrainians want Russian to be the official in the Russian-spoken regions of Ukraine, 28.8% - Russian must be the second state language. The rest 5.9% failed to answer the question. 4,000 respondents were asked, the possible error makes 5.9%.
