President greets Ukrainians on Epiphany

On Epiphany, Victor Yushchenko wished Ukrainians unity and family harmony, presidential press office reported.

“I want this family island of well-being to be firm always . I want happiness and harmony and mutual respect to come to our families,” he said. “These are the feelings that always inspired us when we needed to win.”

The Head of State called on Ukrainians to unite and be tolerant.

“I am happy to see we are living in harmony. I am happy that there are Catholic temples and Jewish synagogues near the domes of Orthodox churches. Each nation has the ability to demonstrate their faith and attitude to God. All people can choose who they want to be,” he added.

Following his speech, the President took part in a festive prayer said by Kyiv Patriarch Philareth. Mayor Oleksandr Omelchenko attended this ceremony, which took place in Hydropark.
