Ukraine’s PM explained the peculiarities of gas issue

PM Yuri Yekhanurov and the US Assistant Secretary of State Daniel Freed discussed the political and economical situation in Ukraine. The high representatives of two countries focused on gas supply issue, the WTO membership and the market economy status.

Speaking on gas issue, PM Yekhanurov explained the main points of Ukraine-Russia gas agreement. Due to the agreement Ukraine has got uninterrupted gas supply for the winter period and stage-by-stage switch to market price for energy, Yekhanurov told. PM emphasized that Ukraine succeeded not only to stand upon its rights and also to strengthen its image of reliable partner as it was regarded by European estimates of this item.

Regarding the WTO membership, Ukraine’s PM mentioned that the USA is the key partner of Ukraine in the negotiation process on this issue. He expects Ukraine and the USA to sign bilateral protocol on market access.
