President studies the Boryspil case

Victor Yushchenko presided over a meeting to study the Boryspil Airport case. Transport Minister Victor Bondar, Interior Minister Yuriy Lutsenko, Security Service Head Ihor Drizhchany, Economy Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk, Kyiv Governor Yevhen Zhovtyak, First Deputy Chief-of-Staff Ivan Vasyunyk and top managers of Boryspil and Aerosvit attended the meeting, President press office informed.

The President said it was vital to work out a clear-cut development concept for Boryspil Airport as a part of Ukraine’s aviation industry. He remarked that all landconflicts should be settled in accordance with the law.

They decided to establish an inter-ministerial commission. Headed by Economy Minister Yatsenyuk, it should inspect the work of Boryspil Airport within two weeks and then formulate its new development concept.

Victor Bondar said the concept should be relevant to “conditions and interests of the state” and “the development of the aviation industry as a strategic industry of the Ukrainian economy.” It should help develop the airport, properly manage its assets and resolve problems of airlines and the whole industry.

Bondar described the meeting as “very successful.”

"The President has, in fact, untied the tangle of problems and misunderstandings among the airport directors, Aerosvit managers and government executives,” he said.

The minister also added that all criminal schemes disclosed by the commission would be immediately reported to law enforcement agencies.
