Ukraine Security Service: Expulsed Uzbeks were members of terrorist organization

Ukraine expulsed ten Uzbek citizens as they are members of “Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan,” SBU (Security Service of Ukraine) spokesperson Maryna Ostapenko told. UNO recognizes IMU as the terrorist organization.

She stated that “theses citizens of Uzbekistan belonged to the organization recognized as terrorist one by UNO in 2001. Staying in Ukraine, they propagandized the radical ideas of IMU.”

Deputy Head of the Uzbek Political Refugees Khatam Khadzhimatov, in turns, states that forcibly displaced Uzbeks were not engaged in politics but just witnessed Andizhan events. That is why they fell into disgrace of Uzbek authorities.
