Ukraine to launch canola diesel oil production

Ukraine launches construction two plants producing bio-diesel oil made of canola, Ukraine Agrarian Minister Oleksandr Baranivsky told at the press conference in Bila Tserkva.

The plants are planned to be built in Zhytomyr and Sumy regions. The first products are to be produced this year.

Ukraine is reported to increase the volume of canola harvest, Baranivsky told. The harvest made 300,000 tones of canola in 2005.

“We plan to gather over 1 million tones of canola in 2006. It will attract foreign investors with huge capital,” noted Baranivsky.

Agrarian Minister believes the President of Ukraine Yushchenko is to sign the Law aimed at support of alternative fuel resources production in the nearest future.

He also mentioned that “there is intense lobby of oil magnates in the parliament.”
