Deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine want to
overcome President’s veto on the law of moratorium on land sale.
BYuT member Ivan Kyrylenko told journalists that BYuT
faction will take part in the voting for overcoming the veto. “We are not
against the land market, but we stand for market relations in all spheres,” he
said.
BYuT’s support will help deputies of the anti-crisis
coalition to collect 300 votes for overcoming the veto.
Communist party faction also calls the deputies to
overcome the veto of the President. Speaking in the parliament, CPU leader Petro
Symonenko declared that President’s veto of the moratorium is nothing but an
attempt to sell out Ukraine’s lands.
“Holding alien policy President Yushchenko tries to
sell every last in Ukraine,” Symonenko said.
December 19, 2006 the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine passed
the law, which prohibits sale of agricultural land till January 1, 2008.
January 3 the President of Ukraine vetoed this law.
According to Land Code in force, sale of agricultural land
is allowed from January 1, 2007.
