20 thousand Ukrainian teachers need accommodations,
Education Minister Stanislav Nikolayenko said speaking in the parliament. He
informed that only 860 apartments were allocated to teachers in 2006.
Nikolayenko also reported that about 90 schools were closed during 2006. But,
according to the Minister, this process does not bear mass character.
Among positive achievements, Nikolayenko named settlement
of the problem concerning lack of teachers in schools. According to him, as of
August 23, 2006 there were 649 vacancies for teachers in Ukraine, but as of
September 1 the problem was liquidated.
The
Education Ministry also offers to implement practice of conclusion of three
power treaties among education management, university and student on question
on dwelling provision for students. Stanislav Nikolayenko the Education
Minister told, the ForUm’s correspondent informs.
“There
are such forms in many regions in Ukraine,” he said. He also informed that on
September 26, 2006 the Government of Ukraine adopted resolution on granting
fivefold address money support for graduating students of Pedagogical
institutions. According to him graduating teachers, working in schools will be
given additional payment and different bonuses for seniority and class
administration.
