Shufrych: Yushchenko ignores the Constitution

People’s deputy from PR Nestor Shufrych considers that statement of the President concerning opening parliament session on January 22 is absurd and legally incorrect.

Shufrych reminded Yushchenko that dates of opening of the VRU session are defined by the Constitution and nobody can influence it, even the President. VRU sessions are opened on first Tuesday of September and first Tuesday of February.

However, in case of necessity first session of the parliament may be not closed and continue its work for two weeks more in order to adopt important draft bills.

According to Shufrych, Yushchenko’s statement demonstrates once more that the President ignores the Constitution.

As a reminder, On January 8 President Viktor Yushchenko forwarded a letter to the VRU speaker Arseny Yatsenyuk with request not to hold winter holidays for People’s deputies.
