Ukraine signed agreement with Hungary

Ukraine has signed an agreement with Hungary on mutual border crossing by inhabitants of the two countries' border areas. This occurred within the framework of Hungarian President Laszlo Solyom's visit to Ukraine. Government's press office reports.

"We are happy to have signed this first document of this kind, which we also intend to do with other countries of the EU," President Viktor Yushchenko said by way of commenting on the event. At the same time he admitted to certain problems in the visa regime and as regards efficiency of cargo and passenger passage at border-crossing points at the Ukrainian-Hungarian border. Therefore, the Ukrainian side will propose a plan of measures to expand the border infrastructure and hopes for its acceptance by the Hungarian side.

The Hungarian President's official visit to Ukraine is slated for March.
