President grants interview for documentary film


President Victor Yushchenko granted interview to the filmmakers of “James Ernest Mace Candle” documentary film, president's press office reported.

Thus Yushchenko paid tribute to the historian and his contribution into Great Famine research.

During the interview President told about his meeting with J. Mace who was one of the first to give a public estimate to Holodomor 1932-1933. He also reminded that it was J. Mace’s idea to honor Holodomor victims by lighting up a candle and placing it on a window-sill.
 
Note. Documentary film “James Ernest Mace Candle” shall be released by March 2008. In the film filmmakers interview Ukrainian politicians, historians, public figures who tell about Great Famine in Ukraine, give their evaluation to the events and recall J. Mace.
