Education Minister to enhance motivation for studying state language

The Education and Science Ministry of Ukraine plans to encourage studying of the Ukrainian in schools of national minorities. The statement to the effect was made by Education and Science Minister Ivan Vakarchuk. Cabinet's press service reports.

According to the Minister, pupils of such schools have not been encouraged to study the Ukrainian up to now, and as a result they did not speak the language well.

"We will enhance motivation of the Ukraine language teachers in national minorities' schools by increasing salary. We will divide classes into smaller groups. We will build new schools to promote efficient studying," the Minister said.

"This is caused by the need to take tests. It is of great importance to study the language your family and nation speak. But an adult person should also speak his/her native language," Ivan Vakarchuk stressed.
