Turchynov denies illegal gas tapping

Ukraine did not and does not conduct illegal gas tapping, First Deputy Prime Minister Oleksander Turchynov says. In his words, national joint stock company Naftogaz of Ukraine is meeting all of Ukraine's international commitments, including as regards transportation of natural gas to Europe, the Cabinet of Ministers' press service reported. Cabinet's press office reports.

"Ukraine is holding clear and stable legal positions. The only purpose of kindling passions over the gas issue is to preserve mediation in Ukraine's home and foreign markets by all means. We are ready to invite international monitors to confirm fair implementation of all commitments, and to prove that we do not use gas not belonging to Ukraine," the Vice Premier emphasized.

He confirmed that Naftogaz of Ukraine really has debts from the former government's times, but the company is ready to make full settlements on those debts on condition of signing a direct contract and appropriate documents with Russia's Gazprom.
