Tymoshenko: Ukraine to appeal to international mediators to regulate gas issue

Ukraine will appeal to international mediators to regulate a gas issue. This was disclosed by Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko at a press conference after the Government sitting. Cabinet's press service reports.

“Taking into consideration pressure put from the direction of “RosUkrEnergo” and “Ukrgaz-Energo” upon Ukraine and taking into account that our coercive structures and high-ranking officials are not able to cope with these companies, the Government of Ukraine made a request to the EU to send officially a group for monitoring reliability and stability of gas transit for the European Union’s needs,” the Head of Government noted.

“We want these European experts, monitoring the situation at gas market openly and transparently, to see all steps the previous government took and our present government is taking. To give them an opportunity, working directly within the NJSC “Naftogaz of Ukraine”, to ascertain that Ukraine is a reliable partner in providing gas transit to the territory of the EU member-states,” the Prime Minister stressed.

Yulia Tymoshenko told that today the Government would appeal to international organizations dealing with financial monitoring with the purpose to check up movement of financial flows of “RosUkrEnergo” and “Ukrgaz-Energo” companies. We will appeal for international aid because as a result of a complicated internal political situation and a situation the NJSC “Naftogaz of Ukraine” faces today it will be very difficult for Ukraine to regulate this problem without international support,” she noted.
