Yushchenko to raise salary of teachers of Ukrainian language

President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko has charged the government to consider the possibility to implement 10% premium for teacher of the Ukrainian language and literature. President Yushchenko stated at a meeting on education system development.

Yushchenko has stressed that some regions of Ukraine, especially rural areas, don’t have professional teaching of the Ukrainian language and literature. He has reminded that the Ukrainian legislation determines the status of the Ukrainian language as the State language. “And how do we encourage a man who implements this law? In no way,” the President said.

He has added that the premium will encourage and motivate teachers to teach the Ukrainian language and literature.
