USA considers that Ukraine is not ready to join NATO

Time framework of Ukraine’s and Georgia’s joining NATO will be determined at the NATO summit in Bucharest. Daniel Fried, US Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs, stated.

“Ukraine and Georgia are not ready for membership in NATO now, and they understand this. But we can help them to prepare. Determination of time framework will be the key question at the summit of Alliance in Bucharest,” Fried stated in his speech on Tuesday.

Answering the question, what members of the Alliance think about this, Fries noted: “Different countries have different points of views, and the discussions are continued. We work with our allies”.
