Government to introduce fingerprints checking system

The Cabinet of Ministers endorsed a plan of measures to create a system on checking foreigners and stateless citizens arriving in Ukraine with fixing their biometric data, Cabinet press service reported.

According to Pavlo Shysholin, First Deputy Head of the State Border Guard Service, the question is about the checking of foreigner's fingerprints when entering the country with biometric data in their passports.

He said the year of 2008 will be preparatory.

At the same time, the Foreign Ministry has already launched a preparatory work to ensure issuing of passports with such data for Ukrainian citizens.
