Lavrov: Ukraine’s joining NATO to spoil relations of Russia and USA

Russia has warned its American partners that realization of plans on admittance of Georgia and Ukraine to NATO will have serious consequences, including relations of Russia and USA, head of the RF Serhiy Lavrov stated at the press conference in Tel-Aviv on Thursday.

He has emphasized that “plans on dragging of Ukraine and Georgia into NATO” do not take advantage of majority of population of Ukraine and population of the part of Georgia.

“It was confirmed to the American side that realization of such plans will have hard consequences to our relations,” Lavrov said.

As ForUm’s earlier reported, the US Ambassador to Ukraine William Taylor considers that Russia can’t forbid Ukraine to become a member of the North Atlantic Alliance.

According to the Ambassador, any of the country outside NATO can’t have the right of veto on the decision concerning Ukraine’s joining the Alliance.
