Ukraine not to join NATO because of Russia?

Former chancellor of German Gerhard Schroeder thinks that Ukraine’s and Georgia’s joining NATO can be considered as deterring Russia.

“Many people, including members of the North Atlantic alliance, are skeptical about Ukraine and Georgia's entry into NATO ,” he noted.

According to Schroeder, domestic political situation in Georgia is uncertain , and it has unsolved conflicts which must not be taken into NATO. “I'd advise refraining from any action that may be interpreted as encircling or deterring Russia. NATO membership for these countries would be such a step. ” Gerhard Schroeder said.
