Bohatyryova: Statements of Luzhkov can’t be justified

Statements of Moscow Mayor Yuriy Luzhkov concerning subordination of Sevastopol to the Ukrainian State call traditional good relations between Ukraine and Russia in question, NSDC Secretary Raisa Bohatyryova stated.

According to her, the published position of Luzhkov doesn’t have explanations from the point of view of broadening of strategic partnership and development of friendly relations.

“In fact, not only traditional good-neighborly relations between Ukraine and Russia are called in question but also the basis of relations between our countries – the Agreement on friendship and cooperation. Emotions could cause such statements but it is impossible to justify them from the position of national interests neither Ukraine, nor Russia,” Bohatyryova said.

According to Bohatyryova, such statements create new problems, besides of those which exist between the two countries now.
