Yushchenko provoked Putin to call him a "rogue" – Tymoshenko

Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko believes that President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko himself provoked RF Prime Minister Vladimir Putin to make harsh statements when he began to apply the same tone during his foreign visits.

According to UNIAN, Yulia Tymoshenko said this at a press conference in the Cabinet of Ministers on Friday, commenting on Putin’s statement about the problems connected with the Ukrainian delegation’s visit to Moscow on October 2.

“All the higher officials at their press conferences, during their public speeches, and in their political life, must follow ethics of behavior. But, at the same time, every state leader has a right on freedom of speech. I also do not like when the President of Ukraine speaking at the world arena calls the Prime Minister a traitor of national interests, a hand of Moscow… When the politician himself uses such a tone, making rough statements at the world arena and offending his partners or opponents, he opens the way for the same attitude to himself”, Yulia Tymoshenko said.

At the same time, the Prime Minister said she regrets that Putin afforded such a statement. “I believe such things are intolerable”, she said.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko was delayed flying to talks in Moscow on Thursday when President Viktor Yushchenko, her estranged political ally, commandeered her plane, she told reporters. The reporters said government officials had found a charter aircraft and she had taken off for Moscow with a small delay. Yushchenko`s press service said a plane taking him to the western city of Lviv had developed technical difficulties and returned to Kyiv, where he had taken a "reserve" plane.

According to Russian mass media, when RF Prime Minister Putin got to know about this incident, he said: “A rogue stole her plane”.
