Ukraine's MFA completing annual program on integration with NATO

Ukraine's Foreign Affairs Ministry expects that the annual national program on Ukraine's cooperation with NATO to become in April a document to define a procedure of Ukraine's activities for that year in terms of its integration with NATO, UKRINFORM reported.

“The program is being actively prepared. For today, from the point of view of the MFA, a preliminary variant of the annual national program in being completed,” MFA Spokesman Vasyl Kyrylych announced.

According to him, the MFA expects that all key positions of the document be coordinated shortly and the document will be delivered, in line with the procedure, for consideration by the NATO Secretariat.

As reported, last week ex-Foreign Minister Volodymyr Ohryzko voiced confidence that Ukraine has the opportunity to become a candidate country for NATO accession in a year or two.

On March 13, President Viktor Yushchenko said that Ukraine's NATO accession would become a guarantee for the country's national sovereignty and territorial integrity. He also noted that there is no other alternative for Ukraine than accession to the Alliance.
