The Ukrainian President expects new FM to continue course for European, Euro-Atlantic integration


Ukraine's Ambassador to the United States, a candidate for the post of the Ukrainian Foreign Minister, Oleh Shamshur, has said President Viktor Yushchenko expects the new MFA chief to continue the course towards European and Euro-Atlantic integration, Shamshur told the press after his meeting with the BYuT faction, UKRINFORM reported. 

“I talked to the President before putting forward my candidature in the Verkhovna Rada. The President told me that he intended to set forth my candidature. He expects me to continue the course towards European and Euro-Atlantic integration, that is, our strategic course,” Shamshur said.

The diplomat also noted that he realistically assesses his chances to become a minister.

Apart from this, Oleh Shamshur underlined that he was ready to meet the opposition Party of Regions any time.
