Alexander Turchinov
Turchinov Alexander was born in March 31, 1964 year in Dnepropetrovsk. He graduated Dnepropetrovsk Metallurgical University with a degree in technology (obtained a distinction).
Turchinov started his career in mining and smelting combine "Krivorozhstal".
In 1991-1991 he was the editor-in-chief of Ukrainian department of Informational agency Una-press APN.
In 1991 he became the head of Institute of international relations, economics and law. A year later – the head of Dnepropetrovsk regional state administration Committee on privatization and demonopolization of industry.
Since 1993 Turchinov has been economics adviser of prime-minister.
In 1998 he was elected to be the people’s deputy, the head of Budget Committee of Verhovna Rada.
In the year 2002 was reelected to be the people’s deputy on a party ticket Block of Julia Timoshenko.
Turchinov is one of the founders of Unity of Democratic Opposition Forces and Forum of National Salvation. The first deputy chairman of the party "Batkivshchina" (Motherland). The doctor of economics sciences, professor. The author of scientific publication and monographs devoted to research of corruption and shady economics origin, genesis of totalitarian tendencies in modern society.
Presently Turchinov holds the post of the head of Security Service of Ukraine.
Alexander Turchinov is an evangelical Christian, who preaches the gospel almost every Sunday afternoon in his church.
In the early 1980's he was secretary of the communist youth organization, Komsomol.When several young academics left the organization and joined the Baptist youth, he wanted to investigate the reasons. One day he appeared in the Baptist church. Turchinov said he could hardly remember anything of the sermon, but he was touched in his heart. Later he was baptised.
