In 1965, after graduating from the Ukrainian Agricultural Academy, Moroz worked as an engineer at the Emilchinsk district alliance called "Selhoztekhnika" or "Agritechnology" in the district of Zhitomir.
From 1966 to 1974, Moroz was an instructor as well as the head of the Department of Agricultural Mechanization at the Taraschansk School of Agriculture. Later he was in the nomenclature of Agrarian-Industrial Complex. In 1985, he graduated from High Party School of Central Committee of Communistic Party of Ukraine. Until 1989, he was the first secretary of the Taraschansk District Party Committee. He later became the head of the Agrarian Department of regional party committee. During the period of perestroika, Moroz personally appealed to the Central Party Committee, as well as to Mikhail Gorbachev himself in regards to reforming the C.P.S.U. (Communistic Party of Soviet Union).
In 1990, Moroz was elected to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, where for a time, he was the majority leader. After the ban of Communistic Party of Ukraine, he became the leader of the Committee for the Creation of the Socialist Party. Starting from October 1991, Moroz was the head of SPU. From 1994 to 1998, he was the head of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. Thanks to the vigorous participation on the part of Moroz, the Parliament supported the Constitutional agreement (1995) and ratified the Constitution of Ukraine (1996).
Alexander Moroz ran for president three times – in 1994, 1999, and 2004, coming in third all three times. In the penultimate presidential elections, Moroz was a part of the so-called "Kanev (the city of Ukraine) foursome" – Alexander Tkachenko, Evgeniy Marchuk, Vladimir Oleynik, and Alexander Moroz.
On November 28, 2002, Moroz made public Major Melnichenko’s tapes and accused Leonid Kuchma and his subordinates of being involved in the disappearance of the journalist Georgiy Gongadze. In the winter of 2001, Moroz became one of the leaders of the movement "Ukraine without Kuchma."
Presently, Moroz is the leader of the Socialistic Party of Ukraine and the head of the party faction in parliament.
